Job Details

Compensation: $25-35/hr starting pay.

Availability: Part-time (8-24hrs per week) or Full-time (40hrs per week)

Duties and Responsibilities

• Tech will perform service and repairs at our Kendall Square Store and potentially split between in-store and mobile repairs (higher pay rate available to mobile technicians)
• As we are an ebike-focused store, a significant percentage of repairs will be for hub motor ebikes. We also see a good amount of non-electric bikes and mid-drive ebikes.
• Training will be provided for electrical work, diagnostics, as well as some of the particular challenges of working on ebikes.
• Assisted lift stands are available for shop repairs and mobile appointments.
• While the vast majority of the bikes we handle are between 20-60lbs, you must be capable of lifting up to 90lbs on ocassion.

Position Requirements

• At least 2 years of professional bike mechanic experience in a retail shop
• Strong customer-facing customer service skills
• A demonstrated aptitude for speed and efficiency of work while maintaining quality. A benchmark we use is whether you can consistently complete a tune-up on a non electric bike in about an hour (this assumes a tune-up with all adjustments, off bike wheel truing, chain/cassette replacement, and brake pad replacements, and frame cleaning). 
• Ability to work in many non-standard environments (i.e. mobile repair or bike events) 
• Generally pleasant attitude. We know that working on bikes can be frustrating and sometimes infuriating, but getting along with co-workers and being kind to customers is non-negotiable here. That doesn’t mean you won’t occasionally get upset at your coworkers or annoyed by a customer, but if you have a collaborative working style and professionalism, you’ll do well here. If you work better away from customers or prefer just putting your head down and just grinding out work, this might not be the best role for you.

Casa Bikes is a bike shop located in Cambridge, MA. We focus primarily on ebikes and cargo ebikes. We launched our retail store in 2023. Through a robust digital marketing strategy and grassroots engagement, we have grown quickly and profitably. Our ownership team has 57yrs of combine bike retail/service experience. We love bikes. We love what we do.

As far as work culture, we keep things orderly and professional, but we do not adhere to regimented policies and processes. Our processes provide guidance without dictating every minute detail. We rely on competent people to understand the big picture, remember key details, and occasionally use their best judgement and problem-solving skills. This requires employees who use good communication and are open to constructive feedback. We don’t take ourselves or our brand too seriously, but we do want to convey a degree of professionalism.
